Set on the outskirts of Manchester city centre, Elizabeth Gaskell's House is the inspirational venue for this cutting-edge event. A striking suburban Victorian villa, lovingly restored to its former glory with spectacular period rooms and a delightful garden. This is where novelist Elizabeth Gaskell lived from 1850 to 1865, and where she wrote nearly all of her famous novels. Those novels have become much-loved classics including Cranford, Ruth, North and South and Wives and Daughters. She also wrote the biography of her friend Charlotte Brontë, plus many lively letters. There will be opportunities to explore the house and walk in the footsteps of Mrs Gaskell’s friends, who included Brontë, Charles Dickens, John Ruskin, Harriet Beecher Stowe and the conductor Charles Hallé. A tearoom is also on site.
Join us for this practical and creative workshop, which will set you up with the skills to take fabulous smartphone photos forever. Tickets £25.
